Rio de Janeiro, Brazil
Description
Founded in 1992 by the Brazilian choreographer Lia Rodrigues, the Panorama Festival (Rio de Janeiro) is one of Brazil's leading platforms for contemporary dance and body arts. The festival was created with the purpose of mapping and disseminating artistic creation, transforming Rio into a hub for avant-garde expression and reflection.
Throughout its trajectory, Panorama has consolidated its commitment to international collaboration, promoting exchanges between Brazilian and foreign creators to blur aesthetic and choreographic boundaries. The ultimate symbol of this is CoLABoratório, an artistic residency program focused on free and collective experimentation, which connects creators from diverse backgrounds to develop collaborative research.
Beyond traditional stages, Panorama is widely recognized for its democratic occupation of public spaces—such as squares, museums, beaches, and parks—decentralizing access to culture. By pairing performances from renowned companies with the nurturing of emerging talent, workshops, and debates, the festival remains a vital ecosystem for reflecting on the body, politics, and diversity amid the pressing issues of the contemporary world.
