Description

The Théâtre de Liège is one of the main Centres Scéniques of the Fédération Wallonie-Bruxelles and also operates as a European Centre for theatre and choreography, reflecting its strong commitment to creation and international dissemination. Since Serge Rangoni took over in 2004, the institution has grown significantly, presenting around forty shows each season, including numerous new productions.

Its programme combines major international artists—such as Isabelle Huppert or Toni Servillo—with emerging voices, offering a diverse reflection of contemporary performing arts. Alongside its season, the theatre organises major festivals, including Émulation, dedicated to young Belgian companies, and Pays de Danses, a biennial celebrating international contemporary choreography.

Two other highlights structure its programme: the IMPACT Festival, exploring the relationship between performing arts and new technologies, and Corps de Textes, devoted to literature across the city. Located at the crossroads of the Euregio-Meuse-Rhine, the theatre collaborates with leading international institutions and directors, strengthening its global reach.

Deeply involved in European projects, the Théâtre de Liège supports both local and international artists through co-productions and partnerships, facilitating access to international stages. It also hosts partner artists across multiple disciplines and presents contemporary art exhibitions.

With around 65,000 spectators, over 250 performances per season, and a team of about sixty staff members, the Théâtre de Liège stands today as a leading cultural institution in Wallonia.
