Athens, Greece
Description
Onassis Stegi, based in Athens, is a multidisciplinary cultural organization established by the Onassis Foundation, dedicated to supporting contemporary creation and fostering critical public dialogue across artistic, social, and technological fields. With a strong presence in the performing arts, it has played a decisive role in supporting emerging and established artists, enabling the development, production, and international circulation of new works.
Committed to supporting the creation and international circulation of contemporary work, Onassis Stegi offers sustained support to artists and creators through touring programme. These initiatives cultivate long-term relationships with international networks and audiences. Alongside live performance, its program spans visual arts, dance, theater, cinema, music, digital culture, and research-based practices, embracing experimentation and cross-disciplinary collaboration. Onassis Stegi also operates as a platform for artistic engagement with urgent civic and political issues, including democracy, human rights, inclusion, and the social impact of technology. This commitment is reflected in exhibitions, public talks, publications, and large-scale outdoor and site-specific projects.
Complementing its cultural program, Onassis AiR, the residency program of the Onassis Foundation, supports artists, curators, and researchers from around the world by providing time, space, and resources to explore new ideas and methodologies. Through its interconnected activities, Onassis Stegi functions as an international hub for artistic production, research, and exchange—an incubator for contemporary practices that connect local contexts with global conversations.
